This painting was made after reading about the major, devastating fire in Maui in 2023. Several years earlier, I had taken my son and daughter to Maui for a vacation. We stayed in the area that was most affected by the later fire. In making this work, I gave it my hope for a new beginning; a repair of the environment and the lives of people who were affected by the fire.
