This mixed media painting grew very slowly as layers were added along with collaged elements…hence the notion of fragments. Having a background in neuroscience and taught a course on the subject, I was well aware that each memory we have is composed of fragments–visual, auditory, emotion, smells and so on. This work is one that asks to be given sufficient time for the viewer to explore each mark, each special place before stepping back to see all of the fragments come together in what I hope will be a memory of the work itself.
