Recently, I have been studying the work of Jules Olitski, a painter and sculpture with a beautiful sense of color and form. I am particularly drawn to his use of texture in his paintings. Using modeling paste, I sought to explore texture in my own work. Night and its companion work, Day part of a continuing exploration.
